Elan Cafe is one of the most instagrammed cafes in London. It has been on my go-to list for a while as I was curious as to what all the hype is about. My sister and I decided to make a museum day out of it. We first had lunch at Elan Cafe before heading off to the Science museum.
As soon as we walked into the cafe, it was immediately obvious as to why it's won it's insta-worthy status. The dusty pink chairs, marble tables, endless flower walls, neon writing and whimsical decorations, makes it OTT pretty. No wonder these cafes keep popping up all over London (like the flowers on their walls).
I am always weary of instagrammy places as to whether or not they would be baby-friendly. It seemed too trendy for a mum and bub to visit. However I was pleasantly surprised to see it ticked all the boxes for being baby-friendly.

We arrived at around 12noon on a Wednesday. There was no queue at the door. We were greeted by a lovely waitress who showed us to our seats. She gave us a larger table to accommodate our pram. I looked around and saw other groups of parents with young children sitting in their high chairs. Immediately I relaxed as I realised the cafe must tolerate screaming youngsters.

The menu is very millennial with açai bowls, smashed avocado, smoked salmon flatbreads and a extensive coffee & cake selection. We ordered a smoked salmon filled croissant, a wrap and two coffees which worked out to be about £30 in total.
Probably the only complaint is that halfway through our lunch, we were told there was a 45min time restriction on the table. They should have told us that at the start so I could have planned my lunch a bit better. 🥟woke up towards the end of lunch and I didn't get a chance to feed him as we were hitting the 45min time limit.
1️⃣ Close to station and step free access: It is not close to a step free tube station, however it is only a short walk from a bus station. No 14 from Green Park drops off almost right outside the cafe.
2️⃣ Baby Change Facilities: Yes. Although the toilet is usually locked, therefore you need to ask staff to access the baby change.
3️⃣ Space for Buggy: Yes, staff are very accommodating of buggies
4️⃣ High Chairs: Yes
5️⃣ Breastfeeding Convenience: Yes. The chairs are very comfortable for breastfeeding. Although there is a time restriction during busy periods of 45 mins. If babies take a long time to feed, mama may need to choose to feed themselves or the baby or do a bit of multitasking.
📍Elan Cafe, 42 Hans Crescent SW1X 0LZ
Verdict: Totally baby-friendly
