Polpo - Covent Garden

There are so many lovely places to eat in Covent Garden. However aside from the big chains, its not always easy to find somewhere that is baby-friendly.

We were out and about shopping in Covent Garden when we stumbled upon Polpo. From the outside, it looked like a little bar that wasn't baby friendly at all. However it was raining and we were desperate for food. We decided to give it a shot anyways.

It was a busy Sunday lunch hour and the place was packed. We hadn't made a reservation before. The staff looked around to see how they could accommodate us. Luckily one of the reservations had cancelled, so they found a nice little table at the back of the restaurant. We left our buggy at the front of the restaurant as we didn't need it. However had we needed the buggy, the staff would've been more than happy to accommodate.

The waitstaff came over with adult menus and a kids menu and crayons. The kids menu was not your ordinary chicken nuggets etc. It actually had really decent selection of food. I asked the staff about allergens. It is fantastic to see how seriously the restaurant takes allergies. The manager came back to the table with an allergen list for each dish and talked us through dishes that doesn't have egg.

The portions are on the smaller size, however the prices are reasonable and the food is delicious. So the best way is just to order more and share!

The highlight of this restaurant was definitely the service. I always try to minimise the mess that Dumpling makes by picking up food from the floor. The waitstaff made sure I sat back, relaxed and not worry about the mess. They completely understand kids throwing food and they can easily sweep it up afterwards. It is such a welcoming feeling.
